Charity Partners

Each tax year Voluptuous Vintage as a business choses a Charity partner to specifically support throughout that year.

Sales of all our beautiful handmade Charity Hair Flowers in the boutique automatically donate 25% to our Charity, so you can look good whilst helping a good cause!

We've managed to previously raise additional funds, including special fundraising sale items, sponsorship of marvellous feats, raffle prizes, and even events like a unique Fashion Show, presenting a range of original vintage pieces through the ages from our own collection with an accompanying informative talk.

For the current year we've been keen to try and do just a little in the face of the distressing move to restrict the basic health and autonomy of women (especially those in marginalised groups) in America, so we will be splitting our charity donations between two charities we've chosen;

The Justice through Empowerment Network (JEN) is based in South Dakota, where abortion has been banned, resulting in additional barriers for people seeking healthcare in the state. JEN helps South Dakota patients, not just with funding for their abortion, but also with the costs associated with transportation, childcare, lodging, interpreters, medications, food, birth control, and the morning-after pill.

Boulder Women's Health is based in Colorado where access to abortion is protected, and provides a wide variety of reproductive and sexual healthcare services for people of all genders, including birth control, annual exams, screenings for breast and cervical cancer, STI testing, transgender hormone therapy, a Teen Clinic, and more.

Their mission is to provide accessible, confidential, and comprehensive gynecological and reproductive health care, including sexual health services and education, regardless of a person’s insurance status, economic circumstances, or immigration status.

Lucy's Trust

Our last Charity Partner was Lucy's Trust - a charity in Northern Ireland set up in the name of a little stray the organisers rescued many years ago, and whose pledge is to save as many dogs as possible from needless euthanasia in Northern Ireland, by providing interim care and re homing directly.

They undertake to help the dogs in greatest need of rescue space, currently mainly lurchers, greyhounds, staffordshire bull terriers and behavioural cases, and are the last chance for several of their cases, but with love and patience have managed to help many of these dogs settle happily into forever homes.

The Cinnamon Trust

The Cinnamon Trust are a hugely vital lifeline for the elderly and the terminally ill in being able to protect and preserve the bond between an owner and their beloved pet by enabling a network of volunteers to assist with extra dog walks, delivering cat food, or even temporary fostering during a hospital stay – which in turn leads to happier and healthier humans, who can continue to benefit from the comfort and company of their very best friend, and also means less potential upheaval for the pet.

Click here to visit the Cinnamon Trust website and find out more about the very varied and fabulous things they do for pets and their people.
(Anyone who feels they might be a suitable dog-walking volunteer should check out the interactive UK Map on the Cinnamon Trust website, as they have frequently updated walking requests, and are always in need of volunteers!)

As pet owners and animal lovers, we know very well just how much we benefit from having our furry companions around to love and talk absolute nonsense to, and even whisper secrets into their sleeping ears. The idea of having to give up that much-loved family member due to a hospital stay or becoming more housebound is quite painful, so we’re very keen to help raise awareness and funds for Cinnamon over the next year – and hope you’ll help us too!

Cherished Gowns

A charity especially close to Mrs Darling’s heart, and one she also volunteers for as a seamstress, Cherished Gowns is a very special charity who create beautiful outfits for stillborn babies and babies who have died shortly after birth, working with bereavement charities and hospitals to be able to provide the families of these precious babies with items of clothing that they are able to be dressed in for their funeral.

Cherished Gowns currently provide 237 hospitals around the UK with stock of packs that include a gown, hat, booties, blanket and a cloth nappy, and also send these gown packs directly to parents who are unable to find anything to fit their precious baby on request.
All of the items they provide have been lovingly made by volunteers from all over the country, and all of the gowns they provide are made from generously donated UK wedding dresses.

Their service is provided completely free of charge to anyone that is in the sad position of needing it.

Click here to visit the Cherished Gowns website and find out how you can help make, gift a dress, or donate to this charity.

In 2016/2017 we raised £133.18 from sales of our charity flowers and accessories, and also held a “reverse charity auction” for Cherished, which raised £1240 including some kind “round up” donations from our bidders.
We rounded that grand total of £1373.18 up to £1400 as a Corporate Donation.

Macmillan Cancer Support

Macmillan Cancer Support is one of the largest British charities and provides specialist health care, information and financial support to people affected by cancer.

We’re all affected by Cancer, whether or not we’re the ones with the disease, and we were especially keen to make Macmillan our first Charity Partner as it was a very personal choice for several of us. Plus there’s no denying that they’re a wonderful charity who do some incredible work to support both Cancer Patients and their families.

Click here to visit the Macmillan website for information about donating, and additional support and information for anyone needing it.
