This 1930s/early 1940s cocktail party dress from American maker C.H.D. Robbins is a remarkable find, crafted of crisp taffeta in a steely blue hue.

It features bracelet-length sleeves, a side metal zip fastening, and an adorable yet modest square neckline. The pin pleated bands on the bodice and below the waist, plus epaulettes with crystal buttons, add exquisite details. Don't miss out on this rare size!

Robbins is an American maker who almost went into liquidation in 1940, but then managed to carry on a few more years.

All vintage clothing is measured with the garment flat and measurements doubled for width. Please compare these measurements to a garment that fits you well as often there is very little or no give in vintage fabrics.

Length from shoulder to waist :17 3/4 inches 
Waist to hem: 30 1/4 inches

There is a generous hem of 1 3/4" which could be used to lengthen and internal seams all have about 1/2" of useable alterations space. Our model, Miss Amelia, is 5'4"/162.5cm and normally wears a size Hedy (one size larger than this dress).
