This is a tricksy little number.  It's a dress that has been made in the 1960s from a 1940s fabric and in a 1940s shirt dress style.

The fabric is definitely a sharkskin from circa 1937-1946; gunmetal silver with the tiniest shadow stripe and an embossed daisy print. The buttons to the front however are decorative and not operational, and are a dark grey black plastic mix: definitely from the 1960s!
Behind the buttons the dress opens and fastens with press studs.

There is a notched neckline and an open pointed collar with two faux pockets, and it has short sleeves with a top stitched turn up cuff. It comes with a soft black velvet belt as shown. (Miss Pearl is actually wearing the belt backwards, but no one noticed on the photo shoot to correct it!)
